Two weeks in Nicaragua, but it started in Costa Rica as the flights are much more cheaper and by bus to Nicaragua.
The first longer stop was on the Isla de Ometepe with hiking up the Volcan Maderas. After that we got the rental car in Managua and drove north to Leon. There we visited the Museo de la Revolución with a nice view on the Basilica.
After Leon we went more into the nature to the Eco-Lodge Hato Nuevo in El Congo. The property is awesome and the owner very friendly, so it is highly recommended. From there we visited the National Park Padre Ramos with its mangrove forest.
The next stay was in the coffee farm Eco-Lodge La Bastilla, which is surrounded by coffee plantations in a beautiful landscape. On the way we visited Ceramica Negra and learn all about black ceramics and also got some hands-on experience.
The next visit was in the Parqueo El Jaguar to hike on the bird watching trail, which was nice but the most birds we saw have been the hummingbirds at the kiosk.
The end was at the Laguna de Apoya with a magnificent landscape. Then we gave back the rental car and went back to Costa Rica by bus.
